My Secret Life: Elaine Cassidy, actress

Elaine Cassidy was born in County Wicklow, Ireland, on 31 December 1979. A film, television and stage actress, she made her debut starring opposite Bob Hoskins in Felicia's Journey in 1999. This performance earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 20th Century Genie Awards. She was later awarded the IFTA award for Best Actress in a Feature Film, in 2004, for her role in Disco Pigs. She lives alone in Ireland, and her next film And When Did You Last See Your Father? is in cinemas in the autumn.
I drive: a black Vauxhall Astra TwinTop, 1.9 CDTi; it's very sexy!
If I have time to myself I: Cook. I'm working my way through an Italian cookbook. I'm on desserts at the moment – yum!
You may not know it but: I'm no good at being idle. There's always something to be done.
A book that changed me was: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho; such a great read. I thoroughly recommend it.
Movie heaven is: anything on a big screen with a big bag of salted popcorn.
Comfort eating: More popcorn, with melted butter.
When I was a child I wanted to be: Everything. Now I'm happy with being an actress.
I wish I'd never worn: My confirmation outfit.
All my money goes on: Living.
At night I dream of: All sorts, but not the liquorice variety.
My favourite building is: The Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. I visited it when I was filming in Spain, I found it very hypnotic and beautiful.
My biggest regret is: Nothing. I don't do regrets.
It's not fashionable but I like: Washing dishes by hand. I'm very environmentally conscious, so I try to do my bit wherever and whenever I can
If I wasn't me I'd like to be: Some form of wild cat.
The shop I can't walk past is: Moschino. I just love their clothes. I feel like a kid in a sweet shop whenever I go in there; it's always a win/win situation.
My favourite work of art is: Anything painted by the Irish artist Rasher. He's brilliant. I've been to all his exhibitions and he just keeps getting better with each one
The soundtrack to my life is: A mix between Dancer in the Dark & The Mission.
The best invention ever is: Yet to be invented, the teleport machine.
